Stan Miller was brought up in an alpine region surrounded by fantastic scenery. He began to love the outdoors and spent much of his free time hiking and photographing nature. After moving to the Hudson Valley, he had a chance encounter with the famous watercolor artist John Pike at Woodstock. Mr. Pike's artwork fascinated Stan, especially the transparency of the various layers of colon on white paper, and it looked deceivingly easy. Stan always had an interest in art but it was this event that started his passion for watercolor painting which has been a challenging and often frustrating medium
