- The Waterboys play the Festival du Bout du Monde in France, 2012.
September 26. The Waterboys, who play the Egg this month, were founded in 1981 by their literate leader, Scottish-born singer-songwriter Mike Scott. The group hit its stride with 1988's landmark Fisherman's Blues and waxed two more acclaimed albums before Scott went solo. In 2000, however, Scott resurrected the Waterboys name for a new lineup and hit the road once again. Last year's An Appointment with Mr. Yeats has the front man setting the poetry of the great William Butler Yeats to the band's freewheeling modern Celtic folk rock. (Richard and Teddy Thompson perform September 28; Steve Hackett presents "Genesis Revisited" September 29.) 8pm. $29.50, $39.50. $49.50. Albany. (518) 473-1845; Theegg.org.
