The Lady In Question

Drag icon Charles Busch is best known for starring in the film Die Mommy Die and writing the Tony Award-winning "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife." His idiosyncratic camp style owes an equal debt in equal parts to femme fatales like Lana Turner and the exaggerated productions of Charles Ludlam's Ridiculous Theatrical Company. "The Lady in Question," a Busch farce from 1988, blends a sensational retro spoof with a psychological thriller, following the tale of self-absorbed Gertrude Garnett, who is forced to battle her narcissistic behavior when aiding a handsome American bent on rescuing his mother from Nazi Germany. The play will be staged at the STS Playhouse in Phoenicia November 1 to 16, with performances Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are $16 for students, seniors, and members of the STS Playhouse, and $20 for general admission. Reservations are recommended. Stsplayhouse.com; (845) 688-2279.
