The Gibson Brothers Play in Beacon

No doubt that the Gibson Brothers took it as a badge of honor when they were dropped from a major label deal for being too “retro” for the modern country music market: The bluegrass duo’s timeless familial harmonies and instrumental virtuosity are an antidote to commercial radio’s all-hat-and-no-cattle bro-country playlists. The brothers will give the Towne Crier a taste of their sweet sibling remedy when they play at the Towne Crier on November 4.

Not to be confused with the identically named 1970s disco or 1990s blues punk outfits, these Gibson Brothers (Leigh and Eric Gibson) have been called bluegrass royalty and were named Entertainers of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2012 and 2013. The pair’s newest album, Mockingbird, adds elements of classic country, soul, and ’70s rock to their deep roots style.

The Gibson Brothers will perform at the Towne Crier in Beacon on November 4 at 8pm. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
