THE BROAD STREET ORCHESTRA OPENS THE 9TH SEASON OF CONCERTS IN THE VILLAGE WITH “GLORIOUS STRINGS: LIGHT AND DARKNESS IN THE 19TH AND 20TH CENTURIES”

When: Sun., Sept. 23, 3-5 p.m. 2018

Featured will be important works for string orchestra: the Romanian and Transylvanian Dances by Bartok, three songs by Sibelius from op. 3 and op. 38, Stravinsky’s exhilarating Concerto in D (“Basle”), Shostakovich’s Adagio and Allegretto, op. 36, and the famous Serenade in E by Dvorak, op. 22. CITV Artistic Director David Smith will conduct, joined by CITV Assistant Conductor Noah Palmer in the Bartok and soprano Andrea Bargabos in the Sibelius.
