Technical and aesthetic strategies for bridging the gap between form and surface in ceramics with will be the focus of the weekend. Through demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and a slide presentation of historical slip-decorated pottery, we will explore surface possibilities to complement, enhance, or enliven a variety of forms. Students should bring two or three leather-hard pots, a sketchbook, and an open mind.
