No one makes a night out jump quite like Jonathan Toubin. And this Saturday, the beloved New York DJ brings his hard-bumping box of vintage soul and R&B 45s to BSP for the seventh return of his Soul Clap dance party.
Named “New York’s best DJ” and “the only DJ we actually like” by Vice magazine, the gregarious Toubin was born and raised in Texas and played in punk bands there and in New York after moving there in the late 1990s. In response to the lack of musical substance endemic to most of the city’s "DJ nights,” he began promoting his own events at clubs in Manhattan and Brooklyn to raving success. A 2011 West Coast car accident saw him sidelined for just over a year, but in mid-2012 he bounced back bigger than ever, going on to tour Europe and Australia.
