King Vidor's atmospheric 1924 film "Wild Oranges", set on the Georgia sea islands has hints of Shakespeare's, "The Tempest". This film starring Virginia Valli and Frank Mayo was Vidor's 24th film, over his lifetime Vidor was nominated 5 times for the prestigious Best Director Oscar; long considered a cinematic innovator and creator Vidor was awarded the Academy Honorary Award in 1979 for incomparable achievements in cinema.
