Secrets of the Trails: the History and Land Use of Putnam County

Roaring Brook Garden Club and Property Owners Association present avid hiker and local historian Ed Illiano, who will guide us in a virtual tour of Putnam County history through land use and forest regeneration. Did you know that over seventy percent of Putnam County is reforested woodland? Learn how to read the woods and fields along local trails. Old farm foundations, stone walls, mill sites, town roads, abandoned mines, family burial grounds, quarries, Native American settlements, railroad beds, docks, bridges and more are preserved in these forested tracts. It will change the way you view the natural world around us.
