As soon as school lets out, it is high pool season. From late June through early September, it’s no secret that pools are the perfect place to spend a hot summer day. Whether you’re looking for a season pass or just want to stop in for the day, these public pools offer a family friendly, affordable way to cool off during the dog days of summer. Pack a snack, sunscreen, maybe a book, and your favorite bathing suit and head to one of these Hudson valley public swimming pools.
Ulster County Public Pools
Andretta Pool
76 N Front Street, Kingston, NY 12401
The Andretta Pool is a six-lane, 25-meter pool and is free to the public, however, attendants must register for a pool user card. The pool is open Wednesday through Sunday. Wednesday and Thursday, the pool opens at 10am and closes at 5:45pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the pool is open from 10am to 12pm for a lap swim and then 12pm to 6:45pm for open swim. They also offer swim lessons three times a week for ages 5 to 16. Swim lessons are $50 for Kingston residents and $75 for nonresidents.
Kerhonkson Pool
The Kerhonkson pool is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 12pm to 5pm. For Town of Wawarsing and Rochester residents the daily admission is $4 for adults and $1 for children and seniors. For nonresidents there is a flat rate of $10 per person per day. Season passes to the pool are also available for both residents and nonresidents of Kerhonkson. For residents, season passes are $50 for an individual and $100 for a family membership. For nonresidents, season passes are $150 for an individual and $250 for a family pass.
Ellenville Pool

The Ellenville pool is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12pm to 5pm and is accessible either by paying daily admission or with a season pass. For Town of Wawarsing and Rochester residents (which include the hamlets of Napanoch, Kerhonkson, Accord, and others), the daily admission is $4 for adults, $1 for children and seniors. For nonresidents there is a flat rate of $10 a day. For residents, season passes are $50 for an individual and $100 for a family membership. For nonresidents, season passes are $150 for an individual and $250 for a family pass.
Moriello Pool
32 Mulberry Street, New Paltz, NY 12561
Owned and operated by the Town of New Paltz, the Moriello Pool is open to the public daily from 12pm to 7:30pm. Swim lessons are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Daily admission rates are available for New Paltz residents, admission is $7 for both seniors and children 12 and under, $9 for residents over 12. After 5pm the daily admission for everyone is $6. Season memberships are available at the pool for both New Paltz residents and nonresidents. For residents the rates are $220 for a family pass, $100 for individuals, and $70 for seniors. For nonresidents the cost is $330 for a family pass and $140 for individuals.
Town of Rosendale Recreation Center

The Town of Rosendale Recreation Center houses a community center, pool, playground, and a large pavilion with over a dozen picnic tables. The pool is open seven days a week from 12pm to 7pm. The daily admission cost for town residents is $5 for adults (17 and older), $5 for children (ages 3 to 16), $2 for seniors (65 and older), and free for children under 2 years of age. For nonresidents, the cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children, $2 for seniors, and free for children under 2. For a season pass, the cost for residents is $95 for individuals, $65 for seniors, and $200 for a household. For nonresidents, the cost is $150 for individuals, $100 for seniors, and $300 for a household.
Ulster County Pool Complex

The Ulster County Pool Complex has one Olympic-sized swimming pool, two smaller pools for kids, locker rooms, a pavilion with picnic tables, a snack bar, and they recently added a playground area for children 8 and under. Visitors of the pool can either pay the daily admission rate or get a season pass. The daily fee for residents is $8 for adults, $7 for children under 12, and $5 for seniors (60 and older). For nonresidents, admission is $14 for adults, $10 for children, and $8 for seniors. Season passes for Ulster County residents are $200 for a family pass, $100 for a single adult, $80 for a child under 12, and $60 for seniors. Nonresident season passes are $300 for a family membership, $150 for an adult, $100 for a child, and $85 for seniors.
Orange County Public Pools
City of Newburgh Aquatic Center
Robinson Avenue/Washington Street, Newburgh, NY 12550
Along with a 25-meter pool, the City of Newburgh Aquatic Center has a 25-foot-high waterslide and a few water fountain sprays, including one designed to look like a giant mushroom. The center also has a changing facility with lockers and showers for convenience. Daily admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children (17 and under).
Sproat Street Pool

Sproat Street Pool is open this season from June 27 through August 28th. The pool is open daily from 12pm to 6pm. Admission is $1 for visitors 16 years old and under, and $3 for 17 years and older. The pool also offers free swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the 2022 season from 9am to 11am.
War Veterans Memorial Pool at Fancher-Davidge Park

Open daily from 12pm to 6pm, the War Veterans Memorial Pool and Splash Pad is located in Fancher-Davidge Park, which also includes a large fishing pond, athletic fields, and a wooded trail. Along with the larger pool, a recent renovation transformed the kiddie pool into a splash pad with colorful water fountain sprays for children to play in. Admission is $1 for visitors 16 years old and under, and $3 for 17 years and older. The park also has a playground, basketball court, 9-hole disc golf course, four pavilions, and a softball field.
Maple Hill Pool [closed for 2022]

Maple Hill Park has a large pool along with a dog park, playground, three pavilions, and tennis courts.
Columbia County Public Pools
Ancram Town Pool

Open July 1 to August 31, the Ancram Town Pool offers free admission to all Ancram residents. Open swimming is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1pm to 6pm and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. Swimming lessons are offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 1pm. For nonresidents there is a daily fee of $3 a person per day or $50 for a family season pass which includes swimming lessons. There is also a baseball field next to the pool for visitors to enjoy.
Dutchess County Public Pools
Rhinebeck Town Pool

Open daily from June 25 to September 5 from 12pm to 7:30pm, the town of Rhinebeck has one large Olympic-sized pool and one smaller children's pool. On the premises, there is also an expansive garden, playground, baseball field, basketball court, and multiple tennis courts. The first hour of the pool (from 12pm to 1pm) is designated for adult swim only. Daily admission to the pool for residents of Rhinebeck is $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, and $5 for everyone after 5pm. For nonresidents there is a flat rate of $10 for all ages.
Red Hook Pool

The Red Hook pool has six lanes, along with a 25-yard section of the pool with a diving well and a shallow end for less experienced swimmers. For children, there is also a separate kiddie pool. Visitors can also enjoy the large pavilion, snack bar, and a pool house with changing rooms. The pool is open daily for members from 12:30pm to 8pm from June 24 to Labor Day. A family membership fee is $450, individual season pass is $295, student membership is $155, and for seniors the pass is $105. Swim lessons are also offered all summer long, registration is available online.
Spratt Park Pool
121 Wilbur Boulevard, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
The Spratt Park Pool is open daily from 12pm to 7pm. Admission to the pool is free for all Poughkeepsie residents. For adult residents the pool is open for lap swimming from 11am to 12pm everyday. The pool house is not open currently, although the City of Poughkeepsie has a plan to renovate the property to remove graffiti and problems with the pool house as part of a larger city outreach plan to improve the area.
Pulaski Park Pool

The Pulaski Park Pool is open daily from 12pm to 7pm. Admission to the pool is free for all Poughkeepsie residents. Swim lessons are offered for residents from 9am to 11:30am. For adult residents the pool is open for lap swimming from 11am to 12pm everyday. The City of Poughkeepsie also has plans to renovate the pool in the future, as part of a larger motion to improve recreation in Poughkeepsie.
Beacon Pool

The Beacon Pool is 140 feet by 50 feet and ranges from two feet to eight feet deep. The pool is open daily from 1:15pm to 5:30pm. Hours are broken up into multiple two-hour swim sessions to reduce crowding at the pool. Daily admission must be purchased in advance through a MyRec account. A single session day pass is $10 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, and free for infants. Beacon residents can also purchase season passes for $50 for adults and $25 for children and seniors.
