Poem: Free Will

Last week I stayed in a Boston hotel

in a room on the 31st floor.

To my surprise, I was able to open

one of the windows all the way.

I could easily have thrown one leg over the sill,

then the other, and been gone, no problem.

It was wonderful; there was nothing

stopping me. Nothing.
