Mount Tremper Arts is in the middle stretch of its sixth season, which started on June 15 and runs through August 24. Their longest season yet, with 11 weeks of performances, includes avant-garde productions like the multi-venue performance of "Perfect Lives," an opera by Robert Ashley, by Varispeed, a collective of composer-performers; and "Art-B-Qs," a combination of gourmet barbecue with performing art.

Many performances at MTA are staged as previews, based on the Broadway model. These allow an artist to give newly finished works a "soft opening," without press reviews. Karinne Keithley Syers's "Another Tree Dance," on July 27, is one such piece, a multimedia work utilizing choreography, music, and visual art.

Matthew Pokoik, the co-founder and artistic director of Mount Tremper Arts, joins the podcast along with long-time Chronogram contributor Sparrow, who wrote an article on MTA for the July issue. Pokoik discusses the organization's genesis, the atmosphere of the peaceful artist's space in the Catskill's, and highlights of the current season.
