Sir Peter Smithers, botanist, photographer, member of Parliament and spy, who worked with Ian Fleming, was often rumored to have been the inspiration for the character, James Bond. Sir Peter Smithers died in 2006 at the age of 92. “His lush photographic images of flowers won eight gold medals from the horticultural society, where some of them hang. They have been called ‘floral pornography.’"
