Pattern of Relations: Five Generations of Hull Family Artists

This unique exhibition displays five generations of artists within the Hull family. The first three generations were a hardware store owner, a banker and a doctor, respectively. Art for them was a serious hobby, a passion, a way of reducing stress from a busy professional life. Charles Wager Hull lived in Washingtonville and painted watercolors of nature and botanical scenes. His son, William Gilbert Hull was a banker in New York City but spent his weekends drawing the cows of Orange County. His son, Donald Burns Hull, a medical doctor in Ridgewood, NJ began painting while in medical school and developed a lifelong passion for landscape during his three year stay in Europe as a medical doctor in WWII.
