Barbara Threecrow Purcell is a self taught, award winning artist from Rosendale. Beginning in the 1960′s group and one woman shows at the Ann Leonard Gallery, Woodstock NY – Woodstock Artist Asso. Petrucci Gallery, Bell Gallery Rhinebeck NY and throughout the Hudson Valley. Her works are in collections in Belgium, Holland and the US.
Barbara’s recent paintings in the medium pastel, pencil and pen depict native women whose sturdy feet, she says, represent their courage and love for the mother earth and various creatures hidden in her work. There will be on display works from different periods of the artists career.
Heritage: Nanticoke, Delaware/Lanape and Celt, Barbara is a ceremonial leader in the Lakota tradition, a spiritual counselor, intuitive healer and creator of the “Medicine Woman Way of self realization - and earth ways teachings” She is the author of three books “Mending the Hoop” – ”The Return of the Sacred Feminine & Teachings of the Grandmothers” as well as ”The Core Methodology; Restoring our Fundamental Nature” She is currently working on her latest book ”The Star Children Today”
