A series of informal discussions on the development of classical music in the 20th century. In each workshop we will listen to several pieces of music go over their historical and musical context. No knowledge of classical music or music at all is required! People with no experience, especially those who think that they hate classical music are highly encouraged to attend. In the first workshop we will discuss the beginnings of musical modernism. In the second we will discuss high modernism in the 1950's and early sixties. In the final workshop we will discuss postmodern music and contemporary trends.
