I appreciate how well thought out and researched your opinion piece is. The challenge remains that this ideal of listening to the other side is a two way street. I think we all need to understand one another better but that involves a conversation as opposed to an argument. My experience and attempt at what you suggest has rarely worked out. One of the obstacles is the dissemination of misinformation as well as the lack (or blatant disregard) for fact checking, the absence of respectful dialogue and the difficulty some people have of articulating their opinions. How do you move a conversation forward with some one who just says their gut feeling is that Trump is the best guy for the job? I will keep trying though and I'm glad you will, too.
