Originally called Five Guys Named Moe, the group came together at the University of Buffalo in 1990 and got their formidable chops together there by playing any and every campus party that would have them. After finding a welcome at New York club Wetlands, they built a live that attracted the attention of Sony/550 Music, which released three albums by the band. After a return to their own label, Fatboy, moe. signed with Americana label Sugar Hill, the home of their last two studio albums, What Happened to the La Las (2012) and No Guts, No Glory (2014).
