You’re out late enjoying cocktails with friends and that midnight hunger is striking. You need something substantial to soak up all that liquid goodness and prevent a wicked hangover—but where can you grab a quick bite before you head home (or even possibly out again drink some more)? These restaurants serve middle-of-the-night eats worth trekking to and are some of the best late-night food spots in the Hudson Valley in all their beer-soaking, stomach-pleasing glory.

The Hollow Bar + Kitchen, Albany

A hip venue in the heart of Albany, this 4-star restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating and has a cozy, historical vibe. Be sure to try the eggplant stack (a tower of fried eggplant covered in pomodoro sauce and smothered with a trio of cheeses) and the Hollow burger (a locally sourced beef patty topped with a farm-fresh, sunny-side-up egg drizzled with habanero ketchup). The venue is often open until 4:00 a.m. but the kitchen closes earlier so be sure to call ahead and make a reservation.

Schatzi's Pub & Bier Garden, Poughkeepsie

This German- and American-infused gastropub is chock full of late-night bites that will have your hunger satiated in no time. Also serving their signature dishes at a second location in New Paltz, you’ll find authentic German dishes like bratwurst, schnitzel, and spaetzle, as well as burgers, tacos, and wings—a large selection that has a flavorful something for everyone.

Huckleberry, New Paltz

After traipsing about the bars in New Paltz, be sure to hit up Huckleberry for some stomach-settling goodness. Their house-made chorizo burger and pulled-pork sandwich are to die for, and you can even get smaller plates or sides like fried Brussels sprouts with chipotle mayo if you need a little something extra to top off your meal or if you just need a snack to get you through the rest of the night.

County Fare Bar & Grill, Wappingers Falls

If your late-night cravings include some good, old-fashioned comfort foods like potato pierogis, fried chicken, or mac and cheese, look no further. County Fare has patrons raving about their atmosphere, food, and service at this local dive boasting a cozy atmosphere and killer eats. Tuck into some tater tots smothered in the decadence of your choice (chili cheese, corned beef, or even vegetarian bacon are just a few of the options) and wrap it all up with some specialty brews off their extensive craft beer menu.

Red Line Diner, Fishkill

What comes to mind faster when you’re scrounging for food in the wee hours than a 24-hour diner? This all-American staple isn’t your everyday diner. With an extensive menu featuring everything from mouthwatering scallop risotto to chocolate chip pancakes, be sure to also check out their bakery case filled to the brim with incredibly decadent desserts.

Eddie’s Roadhouse, Warwick

At Eddie’s Roadhouse, you’ll find and all-craft beer menu along with an appetizing menu made up of organic, locally sourced cuisine. Settle into a delicious app like steak frites topped with a creamy gorgonzola sauce or tomato sauce–drenched eggplant meatballs. They also serve various burgers and entrees that are only ever fresh, never frozen, like their brick chicken with sweet potato mash and habanero aioli. They close between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. during weekdays, but they’re open till 2:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday—perfect for your later-than-usual weekend hours.
