Masks, Totems, and Talismans

The exhibition explores how objects become elevated in physic power, transcending their worldly function and embodying meaning beyond their physicality. Can power be inherent in the object itself, or need it be put there, instilled by the maker? Work by Michael Dickey, Keri Oldham, Jennifer Ollikainen and Colette Robbins highlight the different ways an artist, or a viewer, can place transcendent importance into an object.
