Leslie Bender: Art and Death, Experiencing Self Through the Process of Art

When: Sat., Feb. 20, 5-6 p.m. 2016

Truthfully facing the experience of death is still taboo in our culture. The death of one’s parents has many layers, ranging from fulfilled and unfulfilled relationships and self value to the frightening experience of death with all its implications, as well as the Will, the legal system and its devastating effects on the family. Following the experience of her parents’ deaths, artist Leslie Bender created a series of paintings and drawings to grasp her profound loss.
