Kingston historian and filmmaker Stephen Blauweiss has been doing amazing work in chronicling the city’s past as it prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary. On the heels of the recent publication of his book The Story of Historic Kingston (coauthored with Karen Berelowitz), Blauweiss will this month present a series of free local screenings of films that explore the histories of three neighborhoods via hundreds of rare photographs and related stories.

The screenings will commence with a showing of Uptown: Then & Now at the Ulster County Courthouse parking lot on July 23 at 8pm and continue with Rondout: Then & Now at Gallo Park on July 30 at 8pm and Midtown: Then & Now at the YMCA/Fuller Building parking lot on August 6 at 8pm.

Also planned is an exhibition of more than 450 rare Kingston photos and accompanying text that will be on view at the Fuller Building in Midtown from August 5 through September 21. An opening night event will take place there on August 5 at 6pm. Sunday gallery talks will happen on August 28 at 11am and September 18 at 1pm, and a closing night event will be on September 21 at 6pm.
