- David Greenberger
In 1979, Greenberger took a job as the activities director at a Boston nursing home. Picking up on the elderly residents’ beautifully quaint insights in his talks with them, he began chronicling their conversations and publishing in The Duplex Planet, a zine he published for 187 issues. The Duplex Planet gained a devout cult following and led to Greenberger doing live and recorded readings of excerpts from his nursing-home resident interviews in collaborations with members of R.E.M., Los Lobos, NRBQ, the Blasters, and others. Beyond the Duplex Planet is being produced by filmmaker Beth Harrington.
