When: Wed., July 12, 4 p.m. 2017
This fun and easy workshop will involve playing various sets of instruments: end blown wooden organ pipes, pitched wood blocks, PVC tubes, bottles, and the human voice. Hocket is a musical technique that has been used in many parts of the world for millennia. Each person plays or sings a single note, which in collaboration with others, creates melody and rhythm. From Dean's not-altogether-scientific assessment, societies that practice hocketing seem more peaceful and cohesive than those that don't! Workshop participants are invited to play with Dean's band Curling for Amateurs at the library the following day.
