Trisha Brown's site-specific choreography dates back to the early 1970s, when she debuted Walking on the Wall and Roof Piece, both reacting to urban spaces, and establishing herself up as the doyenne of experimental dance. As part of Trisha Brown Dance Company's year-long residency at Dia:Beacon, the troupe will highlight innovative work produced throughout Brown's innovative career. The choreographer again returns to earlier form with a second performance of works at Dia, incorporating the museum's collection into her pieces. Floor of the Forest is an exploration of a 12-by-14 foot pipe-frame structure installed adjacent to the sculptures of John Chamberlain. In Spiral, dancers walk horizontally down a column while strapped in with ropes. You can see us will be staged in front of Imi Knoebel's 24 Colors-for-Blinky, and Soft Phrase will be danced in the Donald Judd Gallery. (Robert Rauschenberg designed costumes for both pieces.) And Skymap, an audio work, will be installed amidst Sol LeWitt's Drawing Series. Performances will be on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14 at 12pm and 2pm. After the Saturday performance, Dia will present a conversation between Trisha Brown, independent curator Klaus Kertess, and Dia director Philippe Vergne. $35 general admission; $20 for members, students, and seniors. Includes museum admission. (845) 440-0100; www.diaart.org.
