Behold summer's blossoming greenery. Tours of the region's flourishing plants and flowers begin on Thursday with Mohonk's garden tour and luncheon. Though buds grow anew every season, the location's gardens are just as historical as the mountain house, with 19th-century style designs and a Victorian maze. The two-hour tour begins between 10 and 10:30 a.m. and a buffet will follow at 12:30 p.m. The fee is $70. Click here for more info.
The Garden Conservancy Open Days Program seeks to preserve America's finest gardens so that all may enjoy them. In June, they are offering tours of them across the Hudson Valley. The first of them takes place at Broccoli Hall in Amenia. Only open to the public twice a year, on June 15 guests can visit the gardens, whose features include a koi pond and a tree house, any time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on June 15 is Hyde Park's Beatrix Farrand Garden which reflects Colonial American and formal European influences. On this date the Lee Reich Park in New Paltz is open for tours from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m. as well as Highland's Teri Condon-Gardensmith Design location. On June 15, the Hyde Park Visual Environment Committee will host "Hyde Park in Bloom," a tour of the gardens and landscape at NYS Parks Taconic Headquarters which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's theme is "The Rustic & The Refined." Tickets are $35 in advance, and $40 the day of the event.
The Love Where We Garden Tour in Copake Falls will take place on June 15 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Roeliff Jansen Historical Society Museum. At 3 p.m., satisfy your stomach and your desire to revel in the beauty of the scenery with tea and snacks will be served in the gardens. Tickets are $30. Click here for more info.
