The nation’s would-be first female president is breaking her long silence. In a new memoir titled What Happened, Hillary Rodham Clinton lays bare the struggles, triumphs, twists, and heartbreaks of her 2016 presidential campaign against Donald Trump.
Amidst a climate of rage, pettiness, and sexism, confronted with a sensationalist bully, Clinton was a model of composure, self-restraint, and preparedness. In the introduction to What Happened, Clinton writes, “In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net. Now I’m letting my guard down.” This candid memoir gives invites the reader into the intense personal experience behind the public campaign.
What Happened hits national book stands on September 12. HRC then takes to the road for a North American tour. She will be stopping for a special book signing event at Oblong Books & Music in Rhinebeck on December 7. "We are incredibly honored that Hillary will be coming to Oblong to celebrate the release of her new memoir," say Oblong co-owners, father and daughter team Dick and Suzanna Hermans.
