I have grownup in Cornwall, and my heart finds its second home just off Angola Road at Jones Farm .The families that run it, The Jones and Clearwaters, are life long friends. David gave me my first job ever, sorting apples. I went to high school with David and his wife Terri and am proud to call them friends. They make everyone who walks in the door feel like family! The honesty and authenticity with which they approach life is refreshing and heart warming. I have never met a person who works harder than David Clearwater! There are several shops at the farm. The lower part of the barn is a gourmet emporium of freshly picked fruits and vegetables in season, pastas, jelly, honey, tea, coffee, spices ,quiche, and home made fudge that is to die for! It has a wide array of products made by local artisans, a suburb bake shop( OMG the carrot cake is awesome, as well as the home made pies and cookies), and a small cafe area where a gourmet chef prepares stellar " stick- to- your- ribs" home cooked meals such as stews, Bangers and Mash, Soups and more. Upstairs is an array of wonderfully decorated rooms filled with very special gifts and hand made items which include jewelry, linens, clothing, cards, music, candles, children's toys, statues, signs and more! Visiting is a real experience! Outside is a dining area where you can bring your hot apple cider and cider donuts made fresh at the farm. Our favorites are the tipsy molasses cookies! The adjoining cottage that I remember as the old original hen house is totally refurbished and made into Terri Clearwater's art gallery. Her paintings of the MidHudson Valley, and peonies are stellar! I have one of her original oils of our daughter hanging on our wall in our living room. Terry's art is just amazing . This a fantastic time of year to support local businessmen instead of foreign owned large container stores. If you are looking for a personal gift , a gift basket of goodies to bring to a party, or to pick up fresh baked pies for the holidays, visit the farm! It is located across from the environmental center on Angola Road in Cornwall, NY . They are also on Facebook. Call ahead orders for the bake shop. The bakery list is on line here:
