Visit two private gardens in Phoenicia and Cornwallville, open for self-guided tours to benefit the Garden Conservancy, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservations required; rain or shine. Highlights include stone walls and terrace levels featuring Japanese maples, conifers, azaleas, rhododendrons, peonies, and daylilies, plus a nursery and budding arboretum that cultivates and sells plants that coexist peacefully with the indigenous species of this region, both native and non-native.
