Throughout the pandemic, Green Kill exhibition and performance space quietly kept the pulse of cutting-edge art in Kingston alive by hosting livestreamed, limited-entry events. With COVID on the wane, the facility has kept the event model in place, presenting a double bill of experimental music and live sound art on July 5 from regional duos Bore and Al Margolis and Tom Law.

Based in Kingston, Bore is comprised of Maeve Schallert (violin, electronics) and Zoots Houston (“an improviser of various sorts. He works primarily with misuse and perversion of objects and systems. Virtuosity, volatility, futility, and capability are thought of”). Known for his work under the pseudonym If, Bwana, sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Al Margolis lives in Warwick and runs the Pogus Productions record label. Composer and improviser Tom Law makes his home in Saugerties and performs laptop-based electroacoustic music. He has also curated a series of concerts at Opus 40 sculpture park that range from early music to avant pop.

Here’s a snippet of Margolis performing live in 2010:

Bore and Al Margolis and Tom Law will perform at Green Kill in Kingston on July 5 at 8pm. This event will be livestreamed on the Green Kill Sessions YouTube channel and will be open to a live audience of 30. Tickets are $5 dollars. Go here to purchase tickets.
