Essential Cinema: "Artists' Choice" The Philadelphia Story

When: Mon., Sept. 21, 7-9 p.m.

George Cukor's "The Philadelphia Story" (1940) is Brian Cox's selection for PS21's Artists' Choice Series. The showing will be on Tuesday, September 14 at 7 pm in PS21's open-air pavilion theater. On his choice, Cox said, "The Philadelphia Story distinguishes itself by the sheer magical chemistry and flawless playing of Hepburn, Stewart, and Grant and the finesse of George Cukor's direction. Cukor marshals his cast to perfection. Each player fills the screen with their own, individual unique, idiosyncratic personalities, which Cukor blends to a sublime confection."
