With a state-sanctioned casino headed to Sullivan County and complementary economic development in the works, it looks like the Catskills may be headed for a comeback. Lest we forget, over 1,172 hotels and 849 bungalow colonies thrived year-round in the Borscht Belt at its peak. Catskills native Marissa Scheinfeld has spent the past few years documenting the remains of the grand hotels and sprawling bungalow colonies. Her series, "Echoes of the Borscht Belt," will be exhibited through December 31 at Valley Variety in Hudson. On December 12, from 5:30-8:30pm, Scheinfeld will discuss her work over latkes and Borscht from Savory Delicatessen ($25). (518) 828-0033; Marisascheinfeld.com.
