Digging Deeper: Growing Beautiful Food, A Garden Conservancy Master Class with Matthew Benson

When: Sun., Aug. 30, 2 p.m. 2015

In conjunction with the Open Day Farm event, food photographer, writer and farmer Matthew Benson will offer a walking master class tour. Adept at combining edibles and aesthetics; managing chickens and bees; and innovating within the organic micro-farming movement, Matthew recently authored Growing Beautiful Food. The event coincides with the late-season peak of orchard fruits found at Stonegate Farm, inspired by A.J.Downing’s book, Fruit and Fruit Trees of America. The adjacent villa garden, for which Stonegate's restored Carpenter Gothic outbuildings were originally built, will also open; affording a glimpse into 19th-century estate life. Reservations required.

Price: $30, including Open Day Farm admission
