When: Tue., April 6, 5-6 p.m. 2021
Commissioned by Copland House for its acclaimed CULTIVATE 2020 emerging composers institute, to be alone with you by Baldwin Giang takes its title from the song of the same name by the famed indie pop singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens. Giang found the lyrics of the song, about the self-sacrifices required in being alone with someone and with God, to be especially relevant during the COVID pandemic. Please join Music from Copland House for the Virtual Premiere of his dreamlike, hypnotic new work. Includes a brief introduction by the composer, and a post-performance Q&A with CULTIVATE’s Director, Grammy-nominated composer-clarinetist Derek Bermel.
