Crystal Yang: An Art Exhibition: Neo-Hudson River Painting

When: Sat., Oct. 19, 5-7 p.m. 2019

After teaching 14 years at the University of North Dakota, Yang moved to Poughkeepsie, where mountainous terrain replaced flat land. As earlier Hudson River School painters had encountered vast landscapes in awe, Yang, who is originally from Taiwan, created her “Neo-Hudson River Painting” series to reflect a vision that blends the tranquility of a Taoist Arcadia with the vitality of American action painting. Perceiving the beauty of the Hudson River through her eyes and heart, Yang intends to attract viewers from diverse ethnic backgrounds, arousing a sense of pride in the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the region.
