Spotlighting Pablo Picasso’s seminal influence upon generations of composers, the Music from Copland House ensemble performs works inspired by the Spanish master’s paintings, drawings, and stage designs. Highlighting the concert is the World Premiere of a new composition by Viet Cuong, inspired by Picasso’s renowned line drawings; Cuong’s work is Copland House’s inaugural Harvest Commission, supported by Leslie Cecil and Creighton Michael to help further the careers of outstanding young artists from Copland House’s coveted CULTIVATE emerging composers institute. The program also features Picasso-linked music by Robert Sirota and two 20th-century giants, Igor Stravinsky and Manuel de Falla.
