Holding court at the Beachcomber in Wellfleet nearly every summer since 1981, garage rock/power pop greats the Incredible Casuals are a Cape Cod institution. The Casuals’ front man, Chandler Travis, also leads another very cool outfit, the nine-piece Chandler Travis Philharmonic, which will perform at Hudson music shop Musica on June 12.

Described as “the missing link between the Kinks and Sun Ra,” the Chandler Travis Philharmonic recorded with legendary comedian George Carlin and crosses elements of New Orleans jazz, pop, exotica, and Cajun music with Travis’s rock ’n’ roll base. The Village Voice cited them as the group that “puts the harm back in philharmonic”—how’s that for an endorsement?

Here’s the band performing “Don’t Blame Me” at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2010:

The Chandler Travis Philharmonic will perform at Musica in Hudson, New York, on June 12 at 3pm. Donation requested. For more information, call (518) 828-1045 or visit http://www.musicahudson.com/.
