With legalization of recreational cannabis in New York hot off the presses, residents of the Hudson Valley have a new reason to celebrate 420 this month. Though 420 has long-since entered the mainstream after its origins in the 1970s as a codeword used by students who would meet up at 4:20pm to consume together, April 20 has remained an enduring holiday for aficionados who want to celebrate cannabis culture and come together to consume—be it in the form of smoking, concentrates, edibles, vaporizing, tinctures, or topicals.

In honor of the beloved tradition, The Pass, a Berkshires-based farm-to-label grower and producer of adult-use cannabis products, is hosting three events this month at its Sheffield dispensary that will highlight its partner vendors. “This year, for the 420 holiday, we plan to create a fun, eventful, and memorable experience for our customers, while remaining Covid-compliant,” says Ally Brown, Marketing Manager at The Pass.

On Friday, April 16, the dispensary will be hosting Coast Cannabis, which is known for its organic, fair-trade cannabis-infused chocolate bars. Coast will be providing non-infused samples of its products for customers to try.

On Saturday, April 17, go-to vaporizer company Airo will be on-site, offering an Airo battery for just a penny with purchase of an Airo vape cartridge while supplies last.

And on Sunday, April 18, Betty’s Eddies, whose vegan and gluten-free edibles are made with organic fruits and veggies, will be stopping by with non-infused samples of its pun-happy products like “Berry Good Things” and “Elderbetty.”

The weekend of events is sure to delight any cannabis connoisseur, which of course includes the team at The Pass. “My favorite thing about 420 is just the atmosphere,” says General Manager Blake Gurgul. “Cannabis is something so unique that people have in common, and on that day they get to use that uniqueness to make plans and hang out with people who have the same passion in common.”
