Legendary keyboardist Bruce Katz has released seven CDs as a leader and appeared on nearly seventy other recordings with John Hammond, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Little Milton, Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Witherspoon, David “Fathead” Newman, and others.
His new CD, “HOMECOMING” (American Showplace Music) released in October, 2014, explores his wide ranging scope of blues musics, with six vocal tunes, in addition to Bruce’s instrumental originals. “HOMECOMING” features his band as well as special guests John Hammond, Randy Ciarlante, Jimmy Bennett and others.
Bruce is, as well, currently a member of the Delbert McClinton Band, John Hammond Band, and performs regularly with Maria Muldaur Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band among others. He has played extensively with Gregg Allman and Friends and with the Allman Brothers joined them on several tours over the last few years.
The Bruce Katz Band's trademark sound blends B3 organ and guitar into unique blues, “soul-jazz”, and New Orleans-inspired roots music. Katz occupies a unique space where blues and aspects of Americana collide in his original music.
In 2008, 2009 and 2010, Bruce was nominated as Piano Player of the Year by the Memphis-based Blues Foundation (the Blues equivalent of the Grammy Awards) as their "Piano Player of the Year"!
