On March 20th and 21st, Dutchess County Tourism and Ulster County Tourism team up with Big Gay Hudson Valley.com, to promote tourism to the LGBTQ community at the 17th Original GLBT EXPO in New York City. This event is the largest expo in the country dedicated to the LGBTQ community and features a travel pavilion exhibiting gay-friendly sites at destinations from around the world. They anticipate 20,000 visitors this year.
This is the first time Dutchess County and Ulster County Tourism have participated in this event and they are excited to distribute travel guides and brochures about all of the wonderful things to do and see in the Hudson Valley. They will also be offering an Enter-to-Win for a Hudson Valley Getaway, as well as, many other giveaway prizes, courtesy of their tourism partners.
BigGayHudsonValley.com was founded by Stephan Hengst and Patrick Decker as a way to share their love for the Hudson Valley and to connect the gay community to the wide variety of gay-owned, gay-friendly, and gay-sensible businesses of the Mid-Hudson Valley. Their website http://www.biggayhudsonvalley.com, features events, resources, and happenings in the region as well as fresh, original points of interests to the gay community. They also spotlight fundraising events and activities for local grassroots organizations. Ulster County Tourism recently launched their Ulster County Alive advertising campaign which includes video ads in NYC taxi cabs and print ads in New York City subway shuttles, sending viewers to their new website, http://www.ulstercountyalive.com. Keeping in line with their Dutchess Goes Green efforts, Dutchess County Tourism has launched an interactive Dutchess County Happenings Calendar. The new online format interfaces with numerous social media programs, such as Facebook and Twitter, and allows visitors to email directly to friends, or post events into calendar programs, like Outlook.
