In 1995, Miranda July started Joanie4Jackie, a call-out for videos made by women. Each time she assembled ten, she put them together on a single VHS tape and distributed the result. Combining archival footage and raw interviews with punk and DIY techniques, director Vanessa Haroutunian uncovers the history of the project as well as the implications it has for women in the field today. Film is followed by the director's personal "J$J" picks.
