A concert of world and folk music features two-time Grammy winner Bakithi Kumalo of South Africa, Lorkin O’Reilly, and The Whispering Tree. Bassist Bakithi Kumalo came to international attention in 1986 for his work on Paul Simon's Graceland album. His distinct style combines African rhythms and melodies with elements of motown, jazz & pop music. The Whispering Tree is a Franco-American duo consisting of singer/songwriter Eleanor Kleiner and multi-instrumentalist Elie Brangbour. Lorkin O’Reilly’s music blends old-country inspired open tuning with direct and personal reflections and poetry. An Artist Talk with Bakithi Kumalo takes place prior to the concert.
