African Folk Art: Clementine Hunter Spotlight - Cornell Creative Arts Center - Virtual Class

“Art from her heart” Like many folk painters, Clementine Hunter chose her subject matter from her own daily life. Scenes of picking cotton, shelling pecans and boiling wash in the 1920’s. She described a life of hard work, joy and difficulty in a beautiful expression of bright colors, simple lines, and everyday subject matter. Materials Needed: Watercolor or mixed media paper, Chalk or oil pastels, Pencil & Eraser, Waterproof black ink / Sharpie
