A Poem: The Nearness of You

One more time for the bloodhounds
Joe Jones on drums
keep fit & keep listening
doesn’t matter what
tho sometimes in the frozen North
a heater’s fan is best
first choice of cats
& man alone by all appearances

The poem is the olive
you are the stuffings
feral cat in driveway
or just another fire truck wailing
I can’t tell

Reading a book on Josephine Baker
takes days
imagine the messages I have missed
I am like Science on the move
a force of imagination
