A Poem: Coatcheck

I used to wish
upon a hammock star
for your possession

now dandruff
almost sparkles
on my black T-shirt
…looks pretty similar
to that sky
and makes me wonder
if I was just wondering
what it would be like
to Have something
free of rebuke
to play with—
to transfer your knock-out smile
and teenage curiosity
to compulsion
to easy access
met by my ability to fool you
into thinking that I loved you…

if
wicked
dandruff can teach
bad
Breath can forgive
