This is a terrific piece, but like a flat round river stone, it skips across the surface of the lake. Many of us who have worked for decades (yes, decades!) on the twin problems of housing and poverty in Hudson have been shocked by Hudson's newest political operatives' (the last three City administratons) failure to make any real attempts to have a community discussion about these issues. Politically, it's business as usual: round up your partisan friends, take over City hall, appoint your friends to political positions, and move on, fighting the same battles that have been fought for generations. Hudson needs democracy (small d), transparency, inclusion, and the patience and diligence to work for the common good.
