Last Long Winter Hike at Minnewaska State Park
Cross mountain streams, climb hills, and travel through a section of the 2008 forest fire—which scorched 3,000 acres of the park—during one of the season's last hikes. The roughly five mile trip gives attendees the chance to see uncommon wildlife, including New York's only documented occurrence of the noctuid moth, Zale curema.
Winter Carnival Cardboard Box Derby
Hunter Mountain hosts its fourth annual derby and dummy race, where cardboard, paper, tape, and glue are transformed into dragons, race cars, and UFO’s. Prizes will be awarded based on overall design, spirit and attitude, and construction. Finish the day with live music, a torchlight parade, and fireworks display.

Off his upcoming album The Road From Memphis, Booker's new recording “Representing Memphis” features the National's Matt Berninger and Sharon Jones of the Dap-Kings.
Robin Dana “Watershed” opens at BIRE Gallery
The Florida-based photographer's exhibition, “Watershed: How Industry has Changed the Water of the World,” opens at the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries Gallery. The landscape artist finds beauty in the often tenuous and fragile relationship between the natural world and civilization.
The self-reflective, lightly deprecating comedian brings her sardonic, monotone stand-up to Rosendale's Market Market Café. Featured on both NBC's “Last Comic Standing” and “The Late Show with David Letterman,” the entertainer often performs her autobiographical comedy in English and Spanish.
Kingston's St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Kingston's Irish celebration hits the ground running with the annual two-mile Shamrock Run—benefiting the People's Place, a thrift store and food pantry— followed by the St. Patrick Day Parade. Starting at 4pm, BSP Lounge's first ShamROCK Fest features Irish rock, traditional music, dancers, and bagpipers.
We Will Not Be Moved: Frack Action Benefit
While Hudson Valley residents wait for Governor Cuomo's fracking decision, local musicians join their voices to benefit the antifracking group at the Bearsville Theater. The spirituals-themed concert features event organizer John Medeski, as well as Natalie Merchant, Amy Helm, Rachel Yamagata, and Marco Benevento.
