The installation is practically functional in that it provides safe, clean habitat for solitary bees and other pollinators, but conceptually, visually, and sonically it functions to ignite a sense of curiosity in the viewer, perhaps slowing them down to notice the very small and wondrous among us that are so critical to our survival. HVBH’s work is radically eco-materialist in that it ‘diverges from abstract conceptualizations’ and ‘dematerialized forms of communication to create material solutions and real interspecies connection.
