Michael Bisio and Joe McPhee
Lately there’s been some amazing experimental jazz/improvised music stuff going on pretty regularly in Beacon and Cold Spring and occasionally Hudson and Troy. But as far as Kingston goes, that particular scene seemed to have lost its traction several years ago with the loss of the late and great, David Arner-curated New Vanguard Series—until recently. Launched late last year, the Singularity Music Series is a monthly, RSVP-only, house-concert event that takes place in Midtown Kingston. And this month’s lineup, which arrives February 17, is a doozy.

The evening will begin with a solo performance by New York guitarist Lucas Brode, followed by a duo set from two local giants: saxophonist Joe McPhee and bassist Michael Bisio. The night will close with the quartet of McPhee, Bisio, German violinist Rosi Hertlein, and Spanish guitarist Alvaro Domene.

Bask in the beautiful sounds of McPhee, Bisio, Hertlein, and drummer Jay Rosen at this 2017 performance:

Singularity Music Series will present Joe McPhee, Michael Bisio. Rosi Hertlein, Alvaro Domene, and Lucas Brode on February 17 at 7pm. A $15 donation is requested. Space is limited; attendees must RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/189861308262810/.
