Dean Jones and Rachel Loshak of The Moonlights
There’s a symphony for dogs that the songwriter can’t hear, but that cats, mice, porpoises, bats, ferrets, and rats can. It’s goes high as the singers alternate in reaching the next higher note until you can’t help but smile or giggle. Many of the songs on The Moonlights
debut album are fun and quirky like that. They're also a feat of gorgeous harmonies and beautiful lyrics about the natural world, some as soothing lullabyes. The Moonlights are making the rounds at a series of live performances, including two of the upcoming Sunday Brunch at the Falcon in Marlboro, where families can enjoy the complete experience–fine food, world-class music, and an unforgettable natural setting.
The idea to join the distinctive yet complimentary forces of Dean Jones and Rachel Loshak was inspired one winter night in 2016. Jones has been creating original children’s music for many years as a solo artist and with the band, Dog on Fleas
. He’s also produced multiple Grammy Nominated albums in the Best Children’s category for artists like Frances England, Elizabeth Mitchell, Gustafer Yellowgold
, and The Okee Dokee Brothers. Loshak is a singer/songwriter, performing original music
for twenty years, and collaborating on projects with Norah Jones, Moby, Natalie Merchant, Chris Ballew, and others. She’s also worked with her partner, Morgan Taylor, to manage the Gustafer Yellowgold project through their label, Apple-Eye Productions. Together, Jones and Loshak have created a rich collection of striking and whimsical songs for the whole family.
